350 yards of two play dk weight or so Jacob wool. I took this from raw wool to here. I think it will grow up to be a sweater for my toddler. And this isnt even the whole fleece so there will be about 700 yards when I’m done. I adore how it turned out. It’s not the softest in the world but it is airy because it was spun long draw so it is nice and squishy. It will be crazy warm!
After wanting to pitch my knitting out a window, I decided to do some carding. Much more relaxing.
How sweet is this couple. I love live stock guardian dogs. This beautiful boy with his Jacob sheep, is an Estrella mountain dog. Which I had never seen before.
My sheep and wool loot. Not much to spin but it’s something. The brown is 8 ounces of Shetland wool to spin, hopefully to make my daughter a sweater. And fake cashmere because that sounds interesting. Try new stuff and all.
I love seeing all the many many breeds of sheep. This was all at the Maryland Sheep & Wool festival.
Today I went to a friend’s house to see her sheep get hair cuts. Look naked sheep! These are Border Leicester sheep, like from Babe. And all I could think the whole time was Bah Ram Ewe! This shearer is amazing, and fast! The fleece we washed was blindingly white and gorgeous soft. It looks like someone killed a polar bear with the fleece all spread out.
Got all this to spin up. It’s an entire Romney fleece.
The beauty in the seat next to me.
I might have bought myself a fleece…. Because I totally needed more to spin. This is such a shiny Romney fleece.
Bunny or poofy fluff ball? And look at all the wool I brushed off my bunny boys. Adam’s back end was covered in tiny matts even though I brush them every other day. Now they both look nice and fluffy. Love these guys. (Adam is in the picture)
